Krampus Run

The Krampus tradition is often celebrated with a Krampuslauf. The Krampuslaufen is a parade like running of celebrants dressed in demonic Krampus costumes. On selected evenings between late November and early december, multiple groups of revelers gather together in full Krampus garb. Donning grotesque hand carved masks and outfits of matted fur, the demon troops engage in a alcohol fueled romp, scaring children and adult alike with their jangling chains, bells and whip like branches. Often, schnapps is offered by the viewers to the “Krampus” as a gift to encourage them to “move along.”
